The Citizens Advice service offers practical, up-to-date information and advice on a wide range of topics, including; debt, benefits, housing, legal, discrimination, employment, immigration, consumer and other problems.  You can find out how to access our various advice services on the contact page. If you want to access advice online you can visit Advice Guide.

We currently have three public drop-in advice sessions each week on Monday, Thursday and Friday during the office hours of 10:00-16:00.  We are also part of of a county-wide general advice telephone line.  For further information on both services please see the contact us link on this website.  This will be the first port of call for the majority of new clients and in many cases returning clients to the Bureau.  New clients visiting the Bureau during office hours, or clients returning about a different issue, in the first instance will usually be provided with an initial gateway assessment interview with a trained advisor.  This interview usually lasts about 15 minutes and will aim to assess the most appropriate course of action required in order to address the enquiry presented.  There are a number of routes that advisors can discuss with clients at this point, including but not limited to further appointments with a general advisor or referral to specialist advisor or organisation.

We also keep a number of leaflets at the Bureau on a wide range of advice topics and subjects.  If you cannot find a particular leaflet in the public reception area then please do not hesitate to ask one of our staff or volunteers if we have the leaflet in stock.

We also currently have specialist advisors working in the areas of money advice, housing and with the Macmillan Advice Project.  Due to the demand for services, appointments to see specialist advisors are by referral only.  Please visit the dedicated web pages listed below for more information on specialist advice services available at Melton Borough CAB.
